“If they cannot come to education, we must go to them”
India is a country with more than one billion people, and only one third of them can read.
According to a study, 65.5 million people in urban India live in slums and 12.3% of the total slum population are children of 0-6 years of age group. For these children growing up in slums, the urban experience is one of poverty and exclusion. Children living in impoverished and dilapidated houses, playing around in informal settlements are deprived of essential needs like food, education, primary health care and security to which they have a right. Inadequate access to basic education and knowledge about rights and privileges available to them, the various means of help that they can sought, corporate world makes these children vulnerable.
