Don’t be a fool smoking is not cool

“Don’t be a fool smoking is not cool”

Smoking starts innocently but in the long run it can become a long -term problem. Most of the adult smokers started smoking at the age of 20 – 21 as there was no proper social awareness and higher education was not easily available for all. But the upcoming generations have people who will already become a chain smoker by the age of 20 – 21 as they first tried smoking under peer pressure and for the fact to become cool in front of their friend. In the present times, more than 80% of the teenagers have tried a cigarette in their school days and more than half of them have generated this try into a habit just to get popular or to get into a friend circle.Donate to NGO and 50% Tax Exemption

This habit which they have generated in their learning and playing age will bring their future to darkness and will have severe ill – effects on their health. At the age of high stamina they will not be able to run a Km because of low stamina due to smoking. This habit of smoking leads them in the wrong direction and they get distracted from studies and will get into the wrong lifestyle. If the upcoming future generation will not be capable of handling their own health issues then how will they run the world? The three words every non-smoker hears before he tries a cigarette is “try it once” and this leads to the generation of a habit which is generated with no proper intention to do self -harm and is only done by teens to show how cool they are. Peer Pressure is one of the major causes for a teen to get distracted from his goal towards studies as they feel as if smoking will provide them with respect in society. Smoking continuously harms a person’s body and
brings up severe diseases to them. Several campaigns are conducted for the awareness of this fact so that students get to know that this doesn’t make a person cool. All the adult smokers who are regretting now as they can’t quit smoking and now have a war with life and death, they still regret the fact that why they didn’t quit this habit when they were in the developing age.Donate to Right to Education

“A tree will grow according to how you water it “ and it’s the same case with teenagers as they are in a developing age now and they will grow according to how they shape their body now. Some of the causes for teenage smoking are their parents are smokers, peer pressure, to gain popularity, nicotine is a feel-good drug , and easily available cigarettes at low prices which is not difficult for the teenager to spend. Teenagers witness a lot of appealing content in social media regarding smoking as smokers are cool, attractive, independent, living on the edge which attracts direct teenage attention.

Some of the methods that can be used for eradication of this habit is that –

1. Set a good example for your kids as parents.
2. Understand the attraction
3. Appealing to a teen’s vanity
4. Telling them how smoking can become a permanent expense for them
5. Talking about addiction
6. Health hazards awareness
7. Think about the future

So as we conclude on this I would like to put my point of view for the eradication of this problem which is making the rules and administration strict so that people will be scared to do something that’s wrong and will help them in the long run. Even if a class 8 student asks for a cigarette to the shopkeeper he won’t say no as he is not scared about the authorities if he has the fear of thought that he can be fined and jailed for providing cigarettes to a minor he will say no. The police should be on regular rounds and any student found smoking below the age of 18 should be taken to the police station and his parents should be called and told about his habits so that he improves rather than asking them for bribes making them lose more trust o the authorities. If rules and orders are followed strictly a minor will think thrice before smoking and many might quit from the fear of their parents getting to know which will help us grow as one and for a better future for future generations.
