HEALTH ON WHEELS
“HEALTH ON WHEELS” is a mobile hospital initiated by Aahwahan Foundation under its Health sector for rural health care. We launched our mobile medical van to provide cost-effective care to people in rural areas because hospitals in rural India are overburdened, understaffed, and ill-equipped. Residents of rural areas are limited in their access to healthcare due to a lack of hospitals in the region. In India's rural areas, a medical van will help patients and healthcare providers resolve transportation barriers. The medical van comprises a driver, a nurse, and a doctor visiting one village per day and providing treatment to the patients in inaccessible rural areas. The medical van will travel to various rural locations, where we will offer medical care to 300 people a day. The villagers will be notified in advance of the medical van's visitation time as per the schedule. It would also be easier to locate the patient’s information since the doctor will document and report each patient's case. Patients who would otherwise avoid going to hospitals or clinics are more likely to go to a mobile medical van. Additionally, this approach is advantageous for populations that are unaware of their underlying medical problems. The mobile medical van is a great example of how to deal with a shortage of healthcare facilities by using a van to provide the same treatment as a hospital, equipped with advanced technology and medical services.

Mobile
Medical Units are envisaged to provide primary care services for common
diseases including communicable and
non-communicable diseases. A team approach is commonly used in primary health
care services to ensure that an individual receives adequate care. It
also incorporates some of the most recent features, such as information sharing
among health care providers, while focusing on health promotion, disease prevention,
and other chronic conditions. Furthermore, by providing comprehensive and
continuous care to patients, primary health care creates new connections and
participation among community members.

Conduct
tests for individuals over 35 for Hypertension, Diabetes and Cancers annually
and undertake follow-up checks during the monthly visit. A medical examination
will aid in the prevention and detection of disease at its earliest stage, when
it will have the least impact.

Providing
patients requiring drugs with a monthly supply for aliments like Hypertension,
Diabetes and Epilepsy. We also offer medicines that are prescribed by a
physician on a monthly basis to people in the underprivileged category as
they cannot afford to pay for medicines prescribed by a physician.

To
provide point of care diagnostics: Blood glucose, pregnancy testing, urine
microscopy, albumin and sugar, Haemoglobin, Height/Weight, vision testing, etc.

Carry
out screening activities and provide referral linkage to appropriate higher
faculties. The services provided would of necessity be preventive and primitive
and outpatient curative care.

Where
there are cases needing acute medical care on the day the MMU reaches the site,
such care would be provided and patient referral organized. Acute care is
essential and crucial because it can help people prevent death and
disabilities.
