Aahwahan Foundation is helping the backward and underprivileged in India.

insight on how we have impacted lives!
- We have spread awareness about the
coronavirus in over 280 villages.
- We have fed over 10 lakh people during
the pandemic era.
- We have sent over 4720 daily wagers
back home.
- We have provided economic
rehabilitation to over 316 daily wagers who have returned to their native
places.
- We have touched the lives of 1891
students with our online programmes.
- Our mobile clinics are providing a
one-stop help to those villagers who are not able to reach hospitals for
treatment.
Who are we?
For us, we are not doing anything
extraordinary. We are only giving love and consideration back to our fellow
beings. We are Aahwahan Foundation- an NGO in Bangalore involved in promoting sustainable
welfare of the economically backward sections of the society.
Since our inception in 2009, we have
come up with several innovative and scalable ideas to spread goodness among the
underprivileged sections of the society. Be it those who are economically and
educationally backward, or those who are not privy to mainstream amenities
because they reside in remote areas. Our five-pronged, Pan-India approach
spreads across education, women empowerment, health, environment and community
development.
Even before our esteemed Prime
Minister spoke about building an ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’, we were already
committed to the cause and making the head start!
What are we doing for our fellow
Indians?
Our relentless efforts were to make
health, hygiene and medication available to all through our mobile clinics. We
also supported women empowerment by identifying talent among women of the
weaker section, along with those who had the desire to uplift their families
economically. We helped them hone their skills and provided them with training
to start mini entrepreneurship and cottage industries.
Our work didn’t just stop there. We
were cleaning beaches, restoring abandoned ponds and lakes and building smart
villages. While we received groundbreaking results and international
recognition, we always felt we had more lives to enrich!
That objective of touching infinite
lives with our compassion and expertise saw the light when we realized the
danger coronavirus posed on our country. Especially, to those who neither understood
the danger they were in; nor did they have the resources to keep themselves
safe! We went door-to-door, village-to-village spreading awareness about the
coronavirus even before the nationwide lockdown. Not only that, but we also
distributed masks and sanitizers. Our mobile clinics have become a lifesaver
for many expecting mothers and sick patients. In the lockdown, we are trying to
provide medicines to blood pressure patients, diabetics and those who need
daily medication.
Then we found that many daily wagers
were stranded away from home. Their lives were at risk with the pandemic
getting deadlier by the day. We arranged a flight from Mumbai to Ranchi and
sent back 390 people after conducting their COVID Tests and taking care of
their necessary paperwork. We sent 3700 daily wagers home on trains and 630
people by train! Those who have returned to their villages but have not been
able to find themselves a job, we are training them in animal husbandry and
vegetable farming.
We have distributed cooked food
packets to over 5 lakh people and grocery kits to those who were hesitant to
take cooked food. In all, we have fed over 10 lakh people and counting!
We are trying to make education
available to government school students across the country by providing online
(live) classes.
Why do we need your help?
In our endeavour to serve our nation,
our volunteers have gone all out. Many have even contracted the virus, yet we
have not given up. We have provided all the services mentioned above, free of
cost.
Our initiative has cost us over 10
lakh already. The expenses are only going to increase as we have so many more
lives to enhance!
Our team consists of unsung heroes, unheard of, in the news. The reason is we are choosing to use the funds we have on spreading joy rather than advertising our reach. We know we have much to do and we can get there only if you help.
